Rebekka, when did you decide to start your very own brand REBEKKA RUETZ and why?
I founded Rebekka Ruetz at the end of 2009 because I couldn’t think of something else anymore.
How big is your team?
There are a lot of freelancer in my team, e.g. my seamstresses and my cut managaress. Also part of my team: my assistant and interns.
How does a typical working day look like?
No day is like the other, what I personally really like. Our work varies according to the current projects and collections. So there is really no everyday work.
When is the most stressful time for you?
For me, the most stressful time is always from the beginning of a new collection until the end of the sales fairs.
Runway FW Berlin/ Autumn/Winter 14/15 collection "black diamonds" |
I got my inspiration for the autumn/winter 14/15 collection from black diamonds and their color diversity, when the light shines on them.
What is the biggest challenge in your job?
I would say the biggest challenge is the complexity, the every day work demands.
Do you have a favorite designer?
I don’t have one favorite designer but I think the creations of Haider Ackermann are very exciting.
Is there anything you still want to achieve with your brand?
A flagship store in Paris.
What did you do before?
(2004-200)
- In between I was a design assistant at TMS Fashion Group Ltd. in New Dehli, India. (2006)
- After my studies I was a design and managaress assistant at Peter Pilotto in London before I
founded Rebekka Ruetz (2009).
Today many young people want to work in fashion. Do you have any advice how to get there?
The most important thing is to figure out “what” exactly you want to do in or with fashion because the industry offers so many opportunities and jobs.

Ltd./ in Neu Delhi in Indien (2006)
